Rainbow double coupon days

Have you tried doing double coupon days at Rainbow? I've recently started, and have learned how to get the most for my money. What double coupons days means is that if you spend $25 in the store on anything, then you can double up to 5 coupons- up to $1 but no more than that. One thing to keep your total as low as possible is to know the way the register works. To reach $25, it counts the shelf price of a product. Here is an example.

This week, Folgers coffee is on sale for $4.99- the BIG tub. That is a rock-bottom price. That alone is a good reason to buy this because there are coupons from 11/8 RP insert. If you double it, then the coffee is only $2.99. But, keep in mind that this coffee's shelf price when not on sale is around $9.99. This will make it really easy to reach your $25 total.

Here is what I plan on doing today:

Buy 3 air wick freshmatics kits for $4.99
-use the $5 MQ from 11/15 SS
Final price: free

That will bring my total up to $15 (at a minimum), without having to pay for anything. Sometimes, rainbow makes the shelf price the sale price. (Tricky Rainbow)

Rainbow Double Coupon day deals-10/14 Trip #2

I went to Rainbow for the second time tonight...and am too lazy to post how my deals went, but I got all of the above, doing two separate transactions, for $5. Here is what I got:

So I haven't really given Rainbow a fair chance yet...meaning I never thought of doing their double coupon days. Basically, you have to buy $25 worth of items and then you can double up to 5 coupons. Check out what I got for $28 today in two separate transactions:

Then, I took that $1 I made and used it in the Carefree deal like I did above, thus making a $1 profit every time. I plan on doing that two more times, making a total profit of $10! Then, I can roll other deals from week to week.

Target Trip today

I think I had a pretty successful Target trip today. Here are some of the great deals I got:

Total OOP $2 for 2 packages (that is 8 breakfasts!)

Visine eye drops for the dog- the vet told me she had hair in her eye and this would help remove it : $3.64 (ugh, no coupon)

-2 packages of Jenny-O turkey brats: $4.39 (both had $1 off Target peelies)
-then I used a $5 MQ I got way back when the biggest loser was giving them out
-total OOP: $1.50 for 2 pkgs

-Shick intuition plus razors: $8.29
-used $4 MR and $4 Target coupon
Final cost for 2 packages: .60!

-loaf of bread: .95

Total OOP: $18.25

Total saved: $45.68

*I also plan on going back for two more razors and free dog food which I haven't bought yet.

Rainbow

Hey all you COKE lovers (that is me-I prefer coke over pepsi, although the frugal side of me will buy pepsi if it is less than coke) did you see that coke is only $1.77/12 pack at Rainbow? That is only .15/can!

Also, if you like lean cuisine, all of them are 50% off....pretty good if you ask me!

Oh and a 5 lb bag of potatoes is only .99! Also a great deal!

My trip to Wags for .22 =)

For .22 I got:

-2 cartons of coffee
-4 packs of chinet plates (good for when the in-laws visit. Less dishes for me = more time to spend with them)
-Organic dark chocolate bar (mom will love me)
-3 dove dish soaps
-3 things of floss
-7 pencils to donate for school supplies


This is one of the best trips I've had to Walgreens in awhile. Without the easy saver booklet, it hasn't been as easy to get good deals. My total was actually -$1.81, so I had to buy that candybar in order to leave the store. Pretty rough =) Check out my receipt if you don't believe me...all I paid was .22! I also walked out with a $1 RR...so I did make money ;)

I plan on going to Wags again to score 3 more free toothbrushes, another free floss and 2 more packs of Chinet plates, for a $1 money maker. Maybe I'll have to sacrifice and get another candybar or something :)

Well, I have some good news. This deal rolled for me yesterday. This means I was able to use the $3 RR from my previous transaction a week or two ago to do the same Reach deal and get another $3 RR.

***The thing you need to do is stock up when things are on sale or at their lowest price. For example, the hamburger buns. They were on sale for $1.99...and are normally almost $4! That is a savings of 50%.

-The cereal was $2 and I had $1 coupons, getting my cereal for only $1!

CVS Year-to-date spending vs. savings

For those of you who wonder how much "junk" I buy...I think this justifies what I do...according to my CVS receipt, for 2009 I've spent around $60 and have saved $416....I think that is pretty darn good! :) I bet it is double that at Walgreens because they really have no limits...maybe I should start tracking more closely :)

***On a side note: I wonder if this includes ECBs that I get back to spend like cash in the store? Who knows, it might even be more savings that they cannot catch :)
